I worked here for like 5-6 months in the winter of 2018, close to when it just opened (it had only been around since April 2017). At the time it was super cool as Bristol’s only urban club, with an amazing sound system. It wasn’t the dubstep scene or just another cheese spot. It was owned by the same people as Mbargos. I also worked at Popworld in Bristol a year prior, and I was surprised at how aggressive security was. The Bristol security usually have nothing better to do so they routinely go in and kick people out. Usually it’s for no reason. I’m not sure, I could be wrong. But they like to have something to do. When people are aggressive (once someone purposely shoved me while I was carrying a stack of glasses) they hardly do anything. They pretended to kick the person out but didn’t. Probably try to avoid security at all costs. This is considered fun there, you could alternatively just go back again next week and not care. Also, yes they have a race problem. There was a stabbing there when it first opened, blood everywhere, bc there were two rival gangs that showed up to the club one night, so they prefer to keep it a uni spot for students dressed nice. Too much diversity in age demographics or cultural ones just never fit well with the vibe, which if you didn’t know, was the appropriation of black culture by rich university students. Unfortunately it’s get with the program or leave there. You don’t necessarily have to be white, as a lot of black people worked there when I was there, however it’s like a carefully orchestrated jigsaw puzzle that never really went anywhere beyond show up with a uni clique, stay together all night and leave plastered, puking and getting food somewhere by the triangle. Fun fun. Also their glass-wash machine often didn’t work and they just kept serving out of dirty glasses. Like this glass was on the floor outside in a puddle, with black mud on it, and everyone was like, sorry they’re all like that at this point? 8£ double! Their main concern was that cheap Russian vodka was used as the house vodka, to cut costs. I was fired for no reason and happy to leave by spring; my last cash envelope was never found.
Appalling company. After creating agreed promotional video content for them they have yet to pay me.. but continue to use the video content to promote there events every week! I’ve been waiting since November 2022 for payment, Multiple fake promises to pay. Any creatives, DJs etc.. highly recommend avoid working here
The experience for the second time was shocking I was in a booth with my mates and after going smoking area not long after I got back into the booth. Not the smoking area a male got in my face and the bouncers did nothing then I went to the booth to go calm down but I was in tears by the time I got to the booth not one bouncer asked if I was okay and I was crying and yet one of the bouncers looked at me yet said nothing to me. Not even asked if I was okay. I’m never going again.
We had a very bad experience on the Saturday night after the International balloon festival. The bouncers and the staff were very rude to us. Although they said the pub was open until late night until 4 am , we were sent out at 1 am, telling it's being closed, They took an entrance fee as well, by lieing that it would be open. The staff at the door were so racist. Usually i never experienced any racism in London . However this nightclub was such a nightmare for us. Definitely do not recommend to any of you planning to visit here.
One of my favourite places round Bristol always a top night to go to Mondays here are the reason I get out of BED, can’t lie Wednesdays are a bit fishy, Fridays I wouldn’t tell mum about (if you know what I mean ????) and Saturdays are deluxe Deffo worth stopping by if ever in the area :)
