Had a really special lunch with my son here. The lunch menu was excellent and the food was cooked beautifully. We had the Cornish mussels in an Nduja based sauce followed by the steak dish which was delicious. All perfectly cooked and served by the owners wife ( who was very attentive and helped with menu queries) and the lovely Roberta (from Sicily) who was an absolute delight. Added feature is the food being created in front of your eyes in the small kitchen restaurant. Absolutely recommend a visit to this culinary emporium, another fabulous Bristol independent restaurant.
Ordered steak tartare, olives, two skates, two glasses of wine, a chocolate mousse and quince crumble with milk ice cream with a total cost at around £115. Great value for what you get. The skate was so juicy and tender without its distinctive ammonia taste. The portion was very generous as well. They also update their menu now and then. Will return in the future.
The team opened up especially for my brother's birthday party. The food and service was exceptional. One beautiful dish after another. Forgot to take pictures of the food. Too keen to eat up. Thank you for making our celebration so happy and memorable.
I asked some foodie mutuals to recommend a place for lunch in the city for my partners Birthday... This repeatedly came up. I read Jay Rayners review of the place and I have to say it really did live up to the hype. We had a lovely lunch here. It could only been improved by my being able to try their extensive if slightly intimidating wine list. I wasn't able to drink that day :(.. Also the front of house was little frosty, but the quality and presentation of the food made up for it in spades. Highly recommended.
